Toy Story 3

Wow. Pixar had yet to amaze me. It was no Toy Story, that's for sure. I do like it better then the 2nd though.

Original plot as can be. Continuing with Toy Story fashion, it shows us what Woody and the Gang could become if they ever let go of Andy. It's really a movie about sticking through it, never giving up on the ones you love. The only thing that was really rehashed was the "Buzz returning to his original delusional state plot" The villains are great and it is the first Toy Story without much human interaction. You do get a great scene of Andy growing up and it really sends you into some good memories.

It has some great, yet subtle, throwbacks to the first 2 films and I highly suggest watching them before you see this one. It has a lot of good jokes about the original 2 but its not a complete rehash of jokes.

Having the original voices back is a great thing for this movie. I couldn't even tell a difference with Slinky. Though, at the beginning you will be sad to see that some of your favorite toys are gone.

The end is very dramatic, I actually cried. Not only is it like seeing old friends move far away, with only a slight chance of seeing them again. It was a very bright film and a good turn from the very sad Up.

The animation is..well, just that. Animation. It doesn't look too cartoon-y but it doesn't look live-action. It's not supposed to. They look like toys. Yeah that sounds stupid but Woody and Buzz are modeled after humans, but there's this gleam about their faces that reminds you that they're toys. This whole paragraph makes 0 sense.

Overall, another score for Pixar and another great movie to a great series. Possibly the best animated of all time. It lacks no charm and keeps with the great characters from the original while adding some quite, different and interesting new ones. Good family flick and a great nostalgia piece. It returned me to my childhood. The mischief I got into with my toys, and my sinister plots to catch them when they are moving freely. (I believed anything as a child) As a stand-alone film... I couldn't tell you.

Official Ruling: 9.5/10
